Cathay Pacific has announced the completion of high-speed Wi-Fi installations across its entire passenger fleet. This announcement was shared in a post on X.

According to Cathay Pacific, the airline now offers high-speed Wi-Fi and seat-back in-flight entertainment on all of its passenger aircraft. This follows a comprehensive retrofit program, making Cathay Pacific one of the few global carriers to provide both features across its entire fleet as of April 2025. The airline confirmed this milestone in a press release detailing the completion of upgrades by August 2025.

The Wi-Fi service employs satellite-based technology, enabling reliable high-speed internet access at cruising altitude. It is suitable for browsing, messaging, and streaming. The airline's inflight connectivity page states that connectivity is available across all Boeing 777, Airbus A350, and A321neo aircraft. A captive portal guides passengers through activation and allows flexible purchase options based on flight duration. Passengers in First and Business class, along with Diamond-tier frequent flyers, receive complimentary access to designated web services.

Globally, full-fleet Wi-Fi coverage remains uncommon. As of the early 2020s, only a small fraction of Asian carriers had comprehensive connectivity, slightly ahead of Latin America in terms of Wi-Fi penetration. Industry-wide, fewer than one in four aircraft offer onboard Internet access. This makes Cathay Pacific’s achievement particularly significant within both the Asian and global aviation landscapes.

Founded in 1946 and headquartered in Hong Kong, Cathay Pacific is the territory’s flag carrier and a founding member of the Oneworld alliance. It operates passenger and cargo services to over 190 destinations worldwide. According to Wikipedia, the airline maintains a fleet that includes Airbus A321neo, A330, A350, and Boeing 777 aircraft. Consistently recognized for its premium service and innovation, it ranks among the world’s top airlines according to Skytrax assessments. The airline continues to invest in digital infrastructure and onboard enhancements to bolster its leadership in customer experience.
