Flights between the United States and Australia are a significant part of transpacific travel, with 910 direct flights scheduled for October 2025. While routes between North America and Asia are often highlighted, the US-Australia corridor also plays an important role in connecting continents.

Data from aviation analytics company Cirium shows that the Boeing 787 Dreamliner is the most commonly used aircraft on these routes this month, accounting for 442 flights across its two variants. Other frequently used aircraft include the Boeing 777 (186 flights), Airbus A380 (114), Airbus A330 (105), and Airbus A350 (63).

Among US airlines, American Airlines operates non-stop flights from Los Angeles to Sydney using the Boeing 777-300ER and plans to start Dallas/Fort Worth to Brisbane service with the Boeing 787-8 by the end of October. United Airlines maintains a broad network, offering daily flights from San Francisco to Melbourne, Brisbane, and Sydney. It also flies daily from Los Angeles to Sydney and less frequently from Los Angeles to Melbourne and Houston to Sydney, mainly using Boeing 777s and 787s.

Delta Air Lines provides daily service from Los Angeles to Sydney with the Airbus A350-900. Later in October, it will add Los Angeles to Brisbane using the same aircraft type. Delta stated:

"This marks our most extensive schedule to the South Pacific to date, and as we build our presence in the region, we know our customers will enjoy the enhanced experience consistently provided by Delta."

Australian carriers are also active on these routes. Qantas operates several services between Australia and the US. Its daily flagship route between Los Angeles and Sydney uses an Airbus A380. The superjumbo also serves Dallas/Fort Worth-Sydney and Los Angeles-Melbourne at lower frequencies; other flights use Boeing 787-9s for a combined daily frequency on those routes.

Qantas’ operations out of Dallas/Fort Worth include Melbourne service with its Dreamliners. Honolulu has direct Qantas connections to Melbourne via Airbus A330s and links to Sydney using both A330s and Dreamliners. From Los Angeles, Qantas offers daily Brisbane service using a mix of these aircraft types. San Francisco is connected directly to Sydney by Dreamliner service, while New York JFK sees one-stop Dreamliner flights via Auckland.

Jetstar, Qantas' low-cost subsidiary, has a smaller presence but still operates in this market segment. Cirium data indicates Jetstar's Boeing 787-8s will operate 11 Honolulu-Sydney flights this month; three of those continue onward to Melbourne.

Hawaiian Airlines is another operator flying widebody twinjets across this corridor. The airline uses its Airbus A330-200s for non-stop Honolulu-Sydney rotations throughout October—a route spanning approximately 5,066 miles (6,543 km). These flights run five times per week during the month.

Hawaiian’s A330-200 aircraft feature seating for up to 278 passengers: 18 business class flatbeds configured six-abreast (2-2-2) without direct aisle access for window seats, plus an economy cabin arranged in a standard eight-abreast layout suitable for couples traveling together.
