Deutsche Sport Marketing, which manages the rights for the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) and the German Disabled Sports Association (DBS), has announced an extension of its partnership with Lufthansa Airlines through 2026. Consequently, Lufthansa will continue to serve as the official airline for Team Deutschland and Team Deutschland Paralympics. The DOSB and Lufthansa have been in collaboration since 2005, while their partnership with the DBS began in 2009.
The Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA), in collaboration with John Wayne Airport (JWA), announced the arrival of a new Crash 3 vehicle. Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) has recognized 21 jet operators for their efforts in noise reduction as part of the Van Nuys Airport Fly Friendly Program. The award criteria include at least 60 southbound jet departures, no violations of LAWA's Noise Abatement and Curfew Regulation, Non-Additional Rule, and Noisier Jet Phase-Out, compliance at 99% or greater with the No Early Turn and Quiet Jet Departure Programs, and observance of the Quieter Nights Program. The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners has approved an agreement setting a construction completion date of December 8, 2025, for Los Angeles International Airport's (LAX) Automated People Mover (APM) train. The train is scheduled to begin full operations in January 2026. It will be available for free to ticketed passengers, their guests, and airport employees, and is expected to carry 30 million passengers annually, reducing vehicle miles by an estimated 42 million each year.

A company offering maintenance and repair services, along with flight training operations, has opened at Chicago Executive Airport (CEA), providing airport tenants a unique service as CEA continues to grow its suite of facilities. WAir will offer full-service, on-site piston maintenance for CEA tenants out of Hangar 10, operating under a lease agreement with long-time CEA Fixed Based Operator Signature Aviation.
Long Beach, CA – Long Beach Airport (LGB) has reached a new milestone, setting an all-time monthly record for the most passengers to board flights from LGB during its 100-year history. A total of 182,382 passengers departed from LGB in March 2024, surpassing the previous record of 178,836 enplanements set in July 2018. Measuring enplaned passengers is the industry standard because the majority of airport revenues are generated directly or indirectly from enplaned passengers.
At the Prospect Heights City Council workshop on January 10, aldermen approved Chicago Executive Airport’s purchase of 3.37 acres of property adjacent to the airfield near Tower Road. The property was approved for purchase for $1.1 million and will be paid for by the airport.
