A recent incident involving a couple traveling together on an anniversary trip has sparked debate over travel etiquette and honesty. The couple was flying with American Airlines, where only one upgrade seat to first class was available. The husband suggested they both remain in coach to stay together, and the wife agreed.
However, when the gate agent called the wife to offer her the upgrade, she accepted it without hesitation. She then returned to her husband and said, "Oh sorry sweetie, they had already made the change and gave up my seat to someone else and couldn’t change it back." When he asked if she at least switched him to an aisle seat, she responded, "Oh no, sorry babe the seat was already given up."
As a result, the husband was left in a middle seat next to a stranger while his wife enjoyed first class. This situation has led some to criticize her for lying and not securing a more comfortable seat for her husband. Others have pointed out that men often take upgrades or leave their spouses in coach with children.
