Federal Express Corporation, known as FedEx, has announced an expansion of its service options for private customers in Austria. This development is part of a broader collaboration with myflexbox, the largest open smart locker network in the German-speaking region.

Previously, FedEx customers could have their packages delivered to one of over 550 myflexbox parcel lockers across Austria. The new arrangement allows them to also send and return parcels using this network.

The process for shipping and returns is designed to be straightforward. Customers can take their FedEx-labeled parcels to any myflexbox location, scan the label or enter a code, follow on-screen instructions, and place the parcel in a designated locker.

Stefan Dries, Vice President Ground Operations for Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Nordics at FedEx stated: “This expansion in our collaboration is an exciting building block of our e-commerce strategy, offering our customers even more flexibility and convenience.” He emphasized that the expanded service provides more options for customers around the clock.

Jonathan Grothaus, Co-CEO & Founder of myflexbox added: “The first-mile expansion means even more service for our customers. We are very excited about this area-wide expansion of our open smart locker network.” He highlighted how this initiative brings together parcel services, e-commerce providers, infrastructure companies, and consumers on a single platform.

The service accommodates parcels up to specific dimensions and weight limits originating from Austria. The value of goods must not exceed 1000 euros, with dangerous goods excluded from this service.

FedEx continues to focus on enhancing its presence in the e-commerce market by providing access to over 40,000 out-of-home locations throughout Europe.
