SkyDrive is exploring the integration of air taxi services with local railway operations in Japan. The company has initiated a feasibility study to assess the potential of its three-seat SD-05 eVTOL aircraft for this purpose. On July 4, SkyDrive entered into a cooperation agreement with Kyushu Railway Company, which manages rail services on Japan's third-largest island.

Kyushu Railway Company is part of the Japan Rail network and is interested in fostering growth around its stations by supporting complementary businesses and services. It will collaborate with SkyDrive to investigate how eVTOL flights could enhance connectivity for both local travelers and tourists. This includes considering the development of vertiports adjacent to train stations.

Additionally, on June 28, SkyDrive signed a memorandum of understanding with Thailand’s Saha Group to explore introducing eVTOL air services in Southeast Asia. Saha Group is involved in developing industrial estates and operates several private airfields in Thailand. The collaboration will focus on air taxi applications in Sri Racha, Pattaya, and Phuket. Through Saha’s Japanese subsidiary, they will also explore opportunities within Japan.

In April, the FAA accepted SkyDrive's application for type certification of the SD-05 vehicle as part of its plan to enter the U.S. market. This process aims to validate the type certification that SkyDrive seeks from Japan’s Civil Aviation Bureau by 2026.
