Disney has announced the closure of Muppet*Vision 3D at Hollywood Studios, marking a significant change for fans of the long-standing attraction. The announcement was made by Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D'Amaro during the D23 event, where he revealed plans for a new land themed to "Monsters, Inc." This development will take place in the south side of Disney's Hollywood Studios.
Muppet*Vision 3D, a cherished attraction among Muppets enthusiasts, will be removed to make room for the new "Monsters, Inc." land. The decision has disappointed many fans who hold fond memories of Jim Henson's creation. Muppet*Vision 3D was one of Henson's final projects before his passing in 1990 and opened on May 16, 1991.
Despite this closure, Disney is working on ways to preserve elements of the Muppets experience for future enjoyment. In addition to this news, Disney shared that Kermit the Frog and friends will move to Sunset Boulevard and take over Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. The ride will feature the Muppets alongside music stars in a festival setting.
