In the aftermath of the coronavirus pandemic, airports worldwide have faced challenges in managing increased passenger demand. Manchester Airport, located in northwest England, has successfully navigated these challenges, with a significant achievement in March 2025. During this month, 85% of passengers at Manchester Airport experienced security wait times of less than five minutes, and nearly all passengers (99.8%) were processed within 15 minutes.

Chris Woodroofe, Managing Director of Manchester Airport, emphasized the importance of customer service: "Customer service is really important to us, so it’s fantastic that 85% of passengers barely had to wait to get to security last month. We’re aiming to maintain fantastic levels of service over the summer months."

In March 2025, more than 2.2 million passengers passed through Manchester Airport, averaging over 70,000 daily travelers. This performance marked the airport's busiest March on record and its 18th consecutive month of breaking passenger records.

Manchester Airport's busiest routes included Dublin and Amsterdam Schiphol. Data from Cirium indicated that these routes each offered nearly 60,000 seats one way in March.

A total of 14,441 flights were scheduled to and from Manchester Airport during March 2025. These flights provided over 2.7 million seats and nearly four billion available seat miles (ASMs), reflecting an increase compared to March 2024.

The top airlines operating from Manchester Airport included Ryanair with over 3,140 flights and easyJet with over 3,118 flights. The Boeing 737-800 and Airbus A320 were among the most frequently used aircraft.

To enhance passenger experience further, Manchester Airport introduced a new digital gantry providing live information for arriving traffic at its drop-off zone. Chris Woodroofe commented on this development: "Our route network...is clearly doing that...we have an exciting year ahead with the completion of our transformation programme."

Additionally, a barrierless system was implemented for pick-up and drop-off zones using cameras to track vehicle entry and exit times accurately.

Later in the year, Manchester Airport plans to open its redeveloped Terminal 2 as part of a £1.3 billion transformation project. The expanded terminal will feature new shops and dining options such as Chanel store and JD Wetherspoon pub.
